WARNING! POTENTIALLY “OFFENSIVE” THOUGHTS AHEAD.
Cisgender: I literally JUST learned this term last week while reading an article in a recent issue of Essence magazine. In light of recent events, I've seen this term a few more times over the past couple of days. I've even used it a couple times during broader discussions on gender politics.
But, truth is, I don't self-identify with the term.
I am not “cisgender”. I am not a "cisgender woman". I am not a "cisgender female". I am a woman. I am female. That's it.
One of the things that bugs me most with the “cisgender” term is it's man-made and one that is now being thrust upon me - upon society - without our permission. Yet, I thought that was the whole idea behind this generation's push to ignore or reassign the terms “male” and “female”...I thought their issue was because "male" and "female" identity were unfairly thrust upon us.
But how do you deny the eternal validity of the terms “male” and “female” by calling them “man-made social constructs” then turn around and actually create social constructs? How does that work? How does that even make sense?
Moreover, how can one FEEL "male" or "female" from birth if the concepts of "male" and "female" are, indeed, man-made social constructs?
Seriously...think about it: If the concept of our gender is one which is fed to us by society, how then can one be BORN FEELING that way?
Which is it? Either you can't be born feeling your gender OR gender isn't truly a social construct - which means the propaganda that's been thrust upon society regarding gender identity has a LIE in there somewhere.
God's design is simple and pure:
Man-made conventions are complex, chaotic and confusing:
- Trans-species (this is a REAL thing!)
The list goes on…
When we redefine the things of God using our human understanding things get (unnecessarily) complicated. When we tamper with God’s design for sex and gender, we’re not righting some social or moral wrong. It's not a human rights nor a civil rights issue whether one is, indeed, male or female because that's what we are. It's not hate speech to call a male "male" or a female "female". It's not disrespectful to call a man a "man" or a woman a "woman". (Fix it, Jesus! How did we even get this far?) This game we've been playing is not about justice and dignity for a group of people. This plight is not about “sticking it to da man”. It's a flat out rebellion against God Himself!
The Evidence of GOD is Expressed in Nature, HIS CREATION
We keep telling our Creator HE made a mistake - despite all of the EVIDENCE before us! (Jesus! My heart hurts even having to write this!) Some might argue it's because there are many who don't believe there IS a God in the first place. But I challenge that notion. I don't believe that's why. People who don't believe God exists constantly tell those of us who do to show PROOF that He does. They tell us our mere testimony of Him isn't valid evidence. They say they rely on science - laws of nature - to formulate what they will believe about our natural existence. Yet, many of those same individuals don't challenge the notion that one IS the opposite sex simply because they FEEL they are the opposite sex, even though those individuals are born undeniably male or female and with biological and DNA evidence to prove it. I don't see those same people asking the transgender community to "prove" what they "believe" and I don't see them rounding up the existing evidence to help make the case that their claims are "all in their head". I suspect it's because such notions of gender fluidity only help refute the absoluteness of God and His Creation. It's natural evidence be darned in this case. A concept at enmity with the Truth of God is a concept they can believe in! (But I'll save that argument for another day.)
I SAID ALL OF THIS TO SAY...
I'm CERTAIN this post somehow offended someone, and while that wasn't my intent, I know how touchy and taboo this subject can be - especially when you're speaking outside of what is now being embraced as "the norm". But I stand by it 1000%. I had to write this because - as we now say - it's “my Truth”. I'm simply standing in MY TRUTH (which is THE TRUTH). This is how I FEEL. (I've come to learn that those are safety phrases to ensure whatever one says goes unchallenged, no matter how far out it might be to others.) The thing is, however, nothing I said here is a lie...nothing I said was senseless. Nothing I said was hateful. If you think it was, I honestly do pray for you because you are officially a step away from being depraved. Now, that’s a term we actually should work to avoid being called.
With all of the peace, love and MERCY God intends,
P.S. For those who do not agree with the LGBT community, please don't use this post as propaganda to be hateful, disrespectful or to do anyone harm. That was not the spirit nor intention of this post ,and I ask that God block any attempts to twist my words for evil. And for my fellow Christian sisters and brothers, may we be reminded that our job is to love people to Christ so that they might repent and be saved. My prayer is we all be bold enough to tell the Truth without wavering, while being humble enough to share the Truth with love, compassion and genuine concern for our fellow man. Amen.
